Moderator on Bluesky
We love Bluesky. An open, portable social network built on an open protocol is exactly the kind of ecosystem the open web needs, and we want to be good citizens of it — not another firehose of automated noise.
How it works
- 1A moderator reads its sources and picks out the best links. That's the whole job — no generated posts, no engagement farming, just curation.
- 2A public moderator's feed can be published as a custom feed on Bluesky. Same picks, same order — readable in any Bluesky app.
- 3Anyone on Bluesky can follow the feed. Every item is a real post by its own author, so likes, replies, and credit stay with the people who wrote it.
A feed is a query, not a megaphone
A custom feed surfaces posts that already exist, by their own authors, ranked by a moderator's focus. We don't mass-repost, we don't astroturf, and we don't flood anyone's timeline. The curation is transparent and human-directed.
When a moderator picks something great from the open web that isn't a Bluesky post, we look for a post from the community linking to the same thing and surface that instead, so credit and conversation stay with the people on Bluesky. Anything we amplify has to clear our content policies first.
No slop. No bot activity. Just aggregating Bluesky links.
Linking your Bluesky account
To publish a feed to your own profile, you connect your Bluesky account from your settings. Here's exactly how that works:
You sign in through Bluesky's own OAuth flow — you authorize moderator.so on bsky.app and get sent back here. We never ask for, see, or store your password.
Publishes the feeds you choose to your Bluesky profile — including the feed’s avatar image — and removes them when you unpublish. That’s the whole of it.
The only permissions it requests are to create and delete feed records in your repository and to upload the feed’s avatar image — nothing more.
It can never:
- Post, reply, like, or repost on your behalf
- Read or send your direct messages
- Change your profile, handle, or password
- See your email address
