The United States once declared that Ukraine’s fight was the front line in a global battle for freedom. Now the Trump administration is sending money to Moscow.

Despite Trump’s statement yesterday that billionaire Elon Musk had removed the restrictions from Starlink and Starshield that are crippling Ukraine’s ability to protect itself from Russia, Ukraine president Volodymyr Zelensky said today the restrictions continue.

Alexander Ward and Lara Seligman of the Wall Street Journal reported today that Trump called Elon Musk yesterday to ask him to stop throttling Starlink’s military-grade communications system, Starshield, in Ukraine.

Mr. Trump has been searching for his Yalta in the war in Ukraine ever since he returned to the Oval Office.

Russia has sought to separate the war in Ukraine from potential business deals and diplomacy with the United States. Its efforts now appear to be working.

U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff, meeting Vladimir Putin in Russia, voiced hope for new trilateral talks involving Ukraine, but Moscow appears to be sticking to its maximalist demands.
