RootModerator

All content indexed by Moderator passes through our RootModerator—a baseline content filter that enforces platform-wide policies before content reaches any user.

Transparency

In the interest of transparency, here are the policy guidelines given to our RootModerator:

• Content must adhere to local, national, and international laws
• Content should be relevant, accurate, and not intentionally misleading or deceptive
• No hate speech, harassment, bullying, or any form of targeted abuse
• No sexually explicit content, including pornography or sexual exploitation
• No content depicting or promoting child sexual exploitation or abuse
• No graphic violence or gore that is excessive or gratuitous, especially if non-newsworthy
• No malicious content, such as phishing links, malware, or deceptive URLs
• No spam, irrelevant, or repetitive content that disrupts user experience

Free speech & expression

Moderator is designed to support free speech and open expression. Our approach is simple:

• If content passes RootModerator policies, you can read it in Moderator
• Your personal Moderator filters content based on your preferences—not ours
• We do not editorially curate or suppress content beyond baseline policy enforcement

Content amplification

Your sources and feeds are private by default.

• Sources you add are not promoted to other users by default
• Your feed configuration and preferences are not shared
• Content that passes RootModerator is available to you—adding it does not make it public. So just because it passes policy, it is not amplified to the general user base.
